Bill Bowick and David Bouffard, architects turned bakers, left the hustle and bustle of New York City for the tranquil beauty and charm of Charleston and the lowcountry.
Our goal: Open a small-batch, neighborhood bakeshop offering a variety of homemade treats just like our moms and grandmothers used to make.
Since opening in the fall of 2007, Sugar Bakeshop has been committed to using fresh, local ingredients including farm fresh eggs, herbs from our borough's garden plot, and seasonal fruits. We are proud supporters of the local farms, businesses and organizations in our Community. We are excited to be part of the expanding food scene in our beloved Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood.
Approach: Our team of bakers offers classic baked goods year-round with weekly specials and featured favorites. Our offerings follow the seasons. You might find strawberry rhubarb tarts in the spring and apple spice cupcakes in the fall. Check out our Menu or just come by and indulge yourself with our available daily selection of cookies, cupcakes and tarts. We're big on freshness, so we bake all items in our shop fresh every day. Cakes, pies and special treats are made to order only.
